It is getting close to Thanksgiving, a time when people usually are concerned about food pantries everywhere. What about the rest of the year? Our church was helping clean out the pantry of a local homeless shelter. When you make a donation, donate things that are useful - not things that you just do not want.

All during October we have been doing a Road Trip at church. There are 5 vows- each one of those have been a focus on a different month. I made road signs that represent each one of the vows - Prayers, Presence, Gifts, Service, & Witness.

Our church does prayer squares and quilts- they are given to people who are sick, have a lost a loved one, going through a crisis situation, etc. They are also given to people in the military when they deploy. The quilts are on the altar. We all go pray over them and tie knots in the strings that are left for that purpose. These are our dear friends, Joe & Amanda and their daughter Lexi. Joe is deploying in a few days. Watching them during this time was very moving.

One of our activities at the retreat was to take 2 pieces of clay- the red represents God and the gray represents us. This is the result after working the clay together - we become more like God. We pick up his characteristics.

Our speaker at the retreat talked about these 3 bowls and how are heart can be closed like bowl one, full of trash like bowl 2, or can be open to Him like in bowl 3
